CHEMICAL COMPANIES COME TOGETHER OVER DISINFECTANT DEAL

Industrial chemical specialist, Airedale Chemical, has cemented its intentions to diversify and increase its product offering with a new bulk distributor agreement with Scottish manufacturer, Ecoanolytes Ltd.

Airedale Chemical, based in Cross Hills, is now able to offer Dew Disinfectant, from the Ecoanolytes range, formulated from electrolysed water which kills 99.995% of viruses and bacteria without the use of harsh or toxic chemicals.

The move is part of a continued strategic plan by Airedale Chemical to extend its range of disinfectants and target new market sectors.

Daniel Marr, commercial director at Airedale Chemical, explains: “We have been working hard to ensure we provide a broad range of products that fulfil our existing customers’ needs and attract new ones whilst placing an emphasis on expanding our disinfection product range as the world continues to battle Covid-19.

“For many years, peracetic acid (PAA) has been one of our most popular chemicals and Dew is the perfect product to complement our PAA and allow us to offer a comprehensive range of disinfection solutions that will play an important role as we continue to live with the threat of another pandemic.

“Dew Disinfectant stood out to us as it is a highly effective biocide but is much gentler on people and the environment. The use of electrolysed water instead of harsh ingredients means it can even be used in water treatment which is an important growth market for us.

“Ecoanolytes is a dynamic British company with some really innovative products, utilising green technologies to create disinfectant and cleaning products. We’re looking forward to growing the relationship over the coming months.”

Dew Disinfectant has been approved by the EU and is listed on Article 95, the active substances biocides list, so can be used in the treatment of drinking water. It also has applications in agriculture, food preparation and medical decontamination.

Erik Smyth, managing director of Ecoanolytes, adds: “Our technical experts have developed an incredibly effective disinfectant that mimics the body’s germ-killing mechanism. It irradiates 99.995% of viruses and bacteria and is 30 times more effective than bleach.

“It is also suitable for vegans, is human body compatible and does not represent a danger to animals or the environment. It is so gentle that it can be used to fog a room or office without any PPE and while there are still people in it, making it ideal for the situation we currently find ourselves with people returning to workplaces and shops.

“We’re feeling very positive about the future of Dew Disinfectant and how Airedale Chemical’s expertise in this sector will maximise the opportunities for this product in our target markets.”

Airedale Chemical is a third-generation family business which has been based in Cross Hills since 1994, providing chemicals and contract manufacturing to markets including manufacturing, dairy, recycling and waste management.
