Brenntag, the global market leader in chemicals and ingredients distribution, today announced the inauguration of its new Innovation & Application Center for Beauty & Personal Care in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The new facility will focus on research and development for Beauty & Personal Care applications. Dedicated Brenntag experts will provide customers and suppliers with concepts and prototype development, customized formulation support, technical solutions and stability studies for a broad range of applications.

Specific Formulation Tools will focus on evaluating fragrances and analyzing key physicochemical and rheological properties such as viscosity, yield points, thixotropy and flow behavior. Stability testing will also cover flow curves at different temperatures and parameters like creep and recovery. Texture Analysis will include, for instance, compression and tension testing, hair combability, spreadability, elasticity, gel strength and tackiness.

The Innovation & Application Center in Johannesburg is the newest member of Brenntag Specialties’ Beauty & Care global network of 20 industry-focused centers – 6 of them in EMEA – that share best practices, knowledge and insights and deliver value-added services to our business partners. Johannesburg was chosen as the location due to its proximity to key suppliers and customers in the regional Beauty & Personal Care industry.
