STLE elects Greg Croce as 2018-2019 President

The Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers (STLE) – the technical society serving individuals, companies and organizations that comprise the tribology and lubrication engineering business sector – today announced that Greg Croce, Delo Global Brand technical manager for Chevron Products Company, a division of Chevron U.S.A. Inc., and former treasurer, secretary and vice president of STLE, will assume the role of 2018-2019 president effective immediately.

Croce’s appointment was made public on May 22, 2018 at the STLE President’s Luncheon and Business Meeting at the society’s 73rd Annual Meeting & Exhibition at the Minneapolis Convention Center. He will succeed Michael Anderson of Falex Corporation as president of STLE.

In his new role, Croce will serve as the principal executive officer of the society and as chairman of its board of directors. Joining him on the STLE Executive Committee are Vice President Michael Duncan, Ph.D. (Daubert Chemical Co. Inc.), Secretary Paul Hetherington (Petro-Canada Lubricants Inc.), Treasurer Ken Hope, Ph.D. (Chevron Phillips Chemical Co. LP), Immediate Past President Michael Anderson (Falex Corp.) and STLE Executive Director Edward P. Salek.

“Over the last decade, Greg has served many key roles within our technical society,” said Edward P. Salek, CAE, STLE executive director. “His extensive industry expertise, market understanding and deep history with STLE will enable us to further advance the science of tribology and the practice of lubrication engineering in a variety of industries, including manufacturing, metalworking, transportation and power generation.”

During his term, Croce will lead STLE’s volunteers and professional staff in the implementation of a strategic plan that emphasizes education, technical innovation and global advocacy in the areas of tribology and lubrication. Throughout the year, he will represent the society and speak at industry meetings throughout North America and around the world about the positive impact tribology can make in industrial and everyday applications.

With over 30 years of experience, Croce has a proven track record in the lubrication field. Croce joined Chevron in 2000 as a global account manager and OEM service engineer. At Chevron he has held several positions including North American product line specialist, regional sales manager for Techron, base oil optimization specialist, product line manager for global marine and his current assignment.

Prior to joining Chevron, Croce was a process engineer and manager of engineering for Technip USA/KTI where he was a combustion engineer responsible for designing fired heaters. He began his career serving as an analytical chemist for Weck Laboratories.

In 2005, Croce joined the STLE Board of Directors, and in 2015, he joined the society’s executive committee, serving one-year terms as treasurer, secretary and vice president. Croce earned a B.S. in chemical engineering and an M.B.A. from the California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.
